Why test for feline herpesvirus
FHV-1 causes feline viral rhinotracheitis, one of the most common upper respiratory infections in cats. It spreads through eye, nose and mouth secretions and can cause sneezing, discharge, conjunctivitis, fever and corneal ulcers. Kittens, unvaccinated cats and cats in shelters and catteries are most at risk.
Who uses it
Animal shelters and humane societies, cat rescues and foster networks, TNR programs, catteries, cat cafรฉs and veterinary clinics.
Common questions
Herpesvirus or calicivirus?
