Why test for FeLV and FIV
FeLV and FIV are contagious viruses that weaken a cat's immune system and can lead to serious illness. Infected cats can look healthy for a long time, so a test is the only reliable way to know a cat's status before it is housed with other cats, placed in a foster home or adopted. Early screening helps you separate positive cats, plan care and protect the rest of the population.
Who uses it
Animal shelters and humane societies, cat rescues and foster networks, TNR programs, catteries, cat cafés and veterinary clinics.
Common questions
Why a combo test instead of two single tests?
One sample and one cassette give you both answers, which saves time and lowers the cost per cat. If you only need one result, we also sell the FeLV test and the FIV test separately.
What does a positive result mean?
A positive result is a screening result, not a final diagnosis. Kittens can carry FIV antibodies from their mother, so FIV-positive kittens are usually retested when they are older. Your veterinarian can advise on confirmation testing and timing.
How many cats can I test with one box?
Each box contains 10 tests, one per cat. Shelters testing at intake usually order several boxes at a time.
